PANRUTI:

Naam Thamizhar Iyakkam chief Seeman, on Monday, met Panruti Velmurugan after his expulsion from PMK at Puliyur village near Panruti. Meanwhile, sources from both the sides hinted that the meeting was politically significant.

The Naam Thamizhar Iyakkam chief arrived in Panruti around 8 pm and met Velmurugan at his residence. The meeting lasted for five hours. Sources hinted that Seeman made an invitation to Velmurugan to join his party and jointly fight for the rights of Tamil people. However, it is learnt that Velmurugan told Seeman that he would take a decision after getting the opinion of his supporters. Apart from politics, they have been maintaining friendship as they have shared the dais for the cause of Tamils. Velmurugan also acted in one of the movies directed by Seeman.

Because of Seeman’s foreign tour, he could not meet Velmurugan immediately after he was expelled from PMK. “After returning to Tamil Nadu, Seeman gave preference to his friend Velmurugan at this important juncture, said a party source, adding, “They have met many times in the past, but this meeting holds political significance.” Immediately after Velmurugan’s expulsion from the PMK, news prevailed among his supporters that he would join Seeman’s Naam Tamilar party, but this was refuted after he said, in a meeting, that he would not join any political party.
